Are You Ready Canada?! It's An Amazing Monday For A Race

Hi my friends!

It's finally here!  The anticipated first season of Amazing Race Canada and it starts tonight at 6pm EST/ 9pm PST on CTV.

With the success of it's American counterpart it was only time before they did a Canadian version!  Over the course of the 22-day shoot, the teams shot in 78 locations, hopped aboard more than 595 total domestic Air Canada flights, visited seven provinces and three territories, and employed 12 different forms of transportation, including snowshoes and a golf cart.
On the line? The winner receives a year of free Air Canada flights, a pair of Chevrolet Corvette Stingrays and $250,000 in cash.  That seems pretty fair!

Host: Jon Montgomery; an Olympic champion
Jon Montgomery is a Manitoba native who has competed as a Canadian skeleton racer since 2006.  At the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics he won Gold in the men's skeleton event. This world-class athlete is an avid television watcher, during his downtown from racing he could put in a solid 12 hours of television in two days! (Is this my dream man?)  And now his accomplishments have landed him as the host of The Amazing Race Canada!!  The hectic pace of the race was an eye opener for Montgomery, who loved each and every minute of it, giving us readers a hint that the first episode kicks off as drama filled and not how you'd expect!

Sisters; Vanessa Morgan and Celina Mziray
are two feisty sisters from Ottawa, ON with a 10 year age difference between them.
Sisters that bicker when put in stressful situations but always come out as best friends in the end.  They label themselves as 'mini but mighty' and the team to watch!

Father & Son; Tim Hague Sr. and Tim Hague Jr. are the father son team for the season from Winnipeg MB.
Sr is a nurse and Jr is in sales, both looking forward to challenging each other and pushing each other to the limits! 3 years ago Sr. was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease but has not let him slow him down completing triathlons and other physical challenges.

Married Fitness Icons; Hal Johnson and Joanne McLeod.. BODY BREAK!!  (Did you just sing it in your head like I did?)
These fitness icons from Oakville ON, have been promoting health and welness on television for 25 years and are eager to show us viewers another side of their partnership.  Let's see how their fitness practices help or hinder them during this race!

Married Doctors; Brett Burstein and Holly Agostino
from Montreal, QC.

These two doctors met at McGill medical school and are now pediatricians working at Montreal Children's Hospital.  When these two disagree sparks will fly!

Best Friends; Jamie Cumberland and Pierre Cadieux from Airdrie and Innisfail, AB.
These two best friends met through the Alberta Rockies Gay Rodeo Association fundraiser dance 15 years ago.  When Jamie first saw the casting call for the Amazing Race Canada he immediately called Pierre and said "Girl! Clutch your pearls, we can finally apply for The Amazing Race!

Best Friends; Jet Black and Dave Schram from London, ON.
This police officer and body builder world champion has teamed up with his marketing best bud for the show, always the life of the party wherever they go.  They met in high school when Jet was dating one of Dave's friends and it was the friendship that lasted! Their motto: We're like icebergs... 10% above water, 90% below", these two jokers will have Canada eating out of their hands!

T
win Sisters; Treena Ley and Tennille Dorrington from Hamilton, ON.
These two identical twin sisters have been inseparable since birth and best friends who can conquer the world when they are getting along, but if they are fighting, duck and cover.  Canada watch out for these two!

Dating; Kristen Idiens and Darren Trapp from Toronto, ON.
These two adventure junkies are equally dorky, very cute and super supportive, they both love challenging each other to new levels.  Both world travelers and share a passion for sustainable living, Kristen can make her own clothes while Darren is extremely resourceful on little or no money.  These two could be very underestimated and surprise us all!

Brothers; Jody Mitic and Cory Mitic
from Ottawa, ON and Edmonton, AB.
Jody was a sniper for the Canadian forces, while on duty in Afghanistan in 2007, he stepped on a land mine and lost both his legs below the knee. After an extraordinary recovery, Jody was running 5 km charity runs in a little over a year on his new prosthetic feet. “It’s obviously going to be a challenge,” Jody says of his prosthesis  “but we’re going to have to overcome that with determination.”

Cory was by Jody’s side during his recovery and then relocated to Alberta to take a job five years ago. The distance has been hard on the brothers and they’re looking forward to re-establishing their strong bond.  Within a few months of returning home, Jody was reunited with one of the medics who evacuated him from Afghanistan. The two are now common law partners of five years and have two beautiful girls together. With the birth of his first daughter, Jody vowed to always strive to be a better person, someone his daughter would look up to and be proud to call Dad.  This is going to be my favorite team!

I'm excited for the world to see that Canada is not just igloos and the beauty it has to offer!!

Have a great Monday  my friends and enjoy the show!

xoxo Lindsay
